Grosse Ile isn't actually on Jefferson Avenue as it is an island that is in the Detroit River. The name is French for large island. From what I could tell, it looked like a pretty nice area but I didn't wander around all that much.

The island is connected to the mainland by two bridges. This one was the smaller of the two and wasn't a toll bridge. It is a swing bridge and swings open when a boat needs to pass.

The other bridge is longer and is a toll bridge. This one is at the eastern end of the island.

I think this one looks a little neater and it reminds me of one of the bridges that used to be in Bay City. From the sign, it was built in 1913.

Just another view of the bridge.
