University of Michigan

Right next to the Comerica Building is a parking structure. Normally such a thing wouldn't be of interest to me however this one is special.

On the site of this parking structure was the original home of the University of Michigan. It was founded there in 1817 which was 20 years before Michigan was officially a state. You can read the above plaque for the rest. In 1837, it was moved to its current location.
