Then we decided to head down to Frankenmuth. I was hoping to see some Christmas Lights.
Frankenmuth is a community to the southeast of Bay City that was settled by German immigrants. Many of the buildings show their German roots. The building above is dedicated to the author of the song Silent Night. It is a replica of the same chapel in Salzburg, Germany. And it was built in 1992.
Around the grounds are the lyrics to Silent Night in serveral different languages. It is a pretty cool looking building.
There is a manger scene in the front.
And it wouldn't be right without some sort of angel.
One of the cooler things in Frankenmuth is the covered bridge. Construction began in 1979 and it was built using old world methods. Instead of nails, wooden pegs were used.
After the bridge was constructed, it was pulled across the river using a team of oxen at a rate of 3 inches per minute.
The bridge was dedicated in September of 1980. Like I said, it is pretty cool and this might be a prelude of things to come on this blog.
Another angle of the bridge.
Then I went over to another place, to get a picture of it across the river.
And one more picture of it. I really like the reflections on the water.

Hi. I was admiring your bridge photos in Frankenmuth. We are decorating our house and I want to surprise my wife with a couple cool pictures.. Frankenmuth is where we got married, but we don't like traditional pics.. I like the ones you have.
Is there a way for me to get the hi-res photos from you for personal use? What would you charge me for them?
Thanks, Thom 810.252.3730
